Balancing Polarities

I once thought nothing came with more difficulty

than discovering you are what you protect others against

and then it came to mind

Nothing invites more difficulty than knowing

your brethren invite you with sweet words and a dagger by their side

to learn the secrets of your self-mastery at neutral games

before trying to slash and cut out your darkness.

And there I feel, caught in between a rock and a hard place

stuck between tyrants who seek to rule the world

and the intolerant, who want to rid the world of things they don’t understand.
