Love, O how can we know ye?
As the spirit drives us
to look past the veneer and seek unspoken, inner truths.
Ignorance is bliss, say the naysayers
but to know well enough not to stir
the pit of emotions erroneously
which only awakens the bite of jealousy,
moving the spirit into spiteful action
As life unfolds, she teaches us
in myriad ways
the passion play of words and meaning
stages, constructs and differing perceptions
romances and sacrifices to behold
not unlike the Ibis who pierces her flesh
for the sake of her young
Beheld to ideals of sacred truth
to honor thyself
My dear self,
nothing becomes clear to me
Not death, life, nor love
until with you, I am most honest.
The Universe opens up to me
when I am honest in heart, mind and soul
To merge again with everything she is
has been our ultimate goal since we fell
and through those brief moments of clarity
sometimes learn no song more true
than that beautiful bond between mortal and the divine.
