A Rare Bird of Prey

perched on leathery pillars

fluttering your wings

and screeching to blow off steam

Is this a dream?

life is not as it seems

and you’re far from alone

Fierce and indignant

sharp beak,

stripped of your wings

burning from the pangs

of expectations

that violate your sense of justice

enveloped in a world

that left you far behind

in this lawless madness

hope worn down

Radiant feathers

brazen and aflame

maintaining your integrity

of order

Soak in the sun

to find your solace within

a light of beauty and truth

in an otherwise cold,

dispassionate world.
