Dreadful news

the day you came crashing down

broken by the business of strange men

and wicked designs

of foreign professorships.

I agreed it was time – for you

to set your spirit alight

and watch it ascend through the spheres

like the Black Pearl

on the high seas.

You’ve set your sights

on the highest plateaus of social unrest

to reshape the world’s perceptions

of the follies that have infected

your Mother’s

Opportunity comes at a price

and brethren also lie

for the chance to tame the lioness

To hell with social unrest

when poachers approach

for the engendered prize

to possess what virtue remains.

Shall I watch you abandon

the seeds of your soul

for a chance at a cloistered tyranny?

No, my friend

No Evita will you ever be.
